Carports are great for year around protection of your vehicle providing shelter from rain, hail,
snow and blistering heat, at a very reasonable cost to you. |
1. Our custom designed carports are built in strick accordance with your city building codes,
which can vary from city to city.
2. A city building permit must be applied for prior to starting
any actual construction.
3. We provide you, the home owner, with all of the information needed
to obtaining a building permit for your carport.
4. We make sure the design and colors used for your new carport will compliment your existing
home exterior design and color.
5. Your carport will be strong enough to withstand the normal climate and weather conditions
unique to the area in which you live. |
Things to consider when constructing a carport.
If you plan on using it for other purposes in addition to vehicle shelter, attaching one side
of the carport to the wall of the house will not only save space, it also provides a comfortable
outdoor area out of the sun, to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, work on hobbies, make repairs or
simply relax.
Especially convenient when constructing a carport is when you also have access into the home.
Locating the carport with direct access to entry door is great for unloading groceries on rainy days, etc. |
When we build a wood carport, we use timber suitable for exterior applications.
CARPORT ROOF FALL
The roof fall, should have at least 2-inches or more in slope.
CARPORT HEIGHT
Carport height is important; 7-feet from the finished ground to the underside of the
lowest end rafter is standard.
CARPORT SIZE
Carport size of 20-feet by 10-feet is modest; construct yours bigger if the vehicle (or boat, etc.)
you are building it for is larger.
POSTS
Posts set into the ground in concrete and bolted to the beams (using two bolts at each meeting)
usually do not require further bracing. Posts supported by galvanized post brackets alone will
require additional bracing for increased stability. |
